Denbigh Harriers were well represented at the North Wales Cross Country Championships in Rhug on Saturday. The heavy muddy conditions made it tough going for the runners but there were a lot of medal winners from the club. The Women’s team picked up 4 awards as the 3rd team overall, 2nd masters team, individual gold for Ceri Diss in the W50 category and a bronze medal for Victoria Whitehead in the W40 category.

The men put out a strong team and one of the youngest for some time and this showed in some strong performances. The were great debut performances from Joe Welch and Dan Jones both who won medals on the day. The men won a total of seven awards taking the Men’s Team and Masters bronze, the M60 team gold and individual M65 gold for Martin Cortvriend, bronze M60 for Fred Jones, bronze M55 for David Baugh and bronze M40 for Glen Price.

In the 6 mile Tarren Hendre fell race that climbs 2000ft in the first two miles Ceri Belshaw finished in 1hr 13:42 and Emma Collins finished in 1hr 15:46 to win her age category.
On Sunday the evergreen Martin Cortvriend was the first M65 in the Meltham Tough 10k, West Yorkshire in a time os 45.01 which was a remarkable performance given his prize winning run the day before.
