Team Baugh impress in the 43rd Snowdon International Race
Snowdon looked a bit foreboding with very low cloud and little wind for the Snowdon International Race of 9.6 miles and over 3000 foot of ascent but actually it turned out to be good running conditions for the Baugh Family. Katy in 411th and sneaking under the 2hour mark in 01:59:19 and Elen, 444th 02:02:45, improved their 2016 times despite Elen taking a big tumble resulting in a visit to the first aid tent. Menai continues with her cracking form taking 3rd VF60 & 499th in 02:09:55 enjoying the run immensely. David had a steady run gaining positions the whole race finishing 237th in 01:42:09.
Elsewhere, at Caernarfon’s Race the Train, Fred Jones was the only Harrier on the course taking 3rd VM60 in 20:39 in this fast and furious race. Phil Hayes completed the RunWales North Wales Half Marathon in 1hr 42min 03sec and just under 2mins faster than last year.
Over the border, Duncan Jones completed the Shrewsbury 10k, one of the more attractive and hilly of the ‘town Centre’ races. Warm but easier racing conditions saw Duncan in his first race for a few weeks and pleased to finish in 46.03, 8th out of 71 in VM55s. Abigail Corfe completed her second half marathon – this one a hot challenging trail run – since coming back from injury at the Race for Life Half Marathon at Cheshire’s Cholmondeley Castle.
Parkrun mirrored the other weeks races both locally and over the border with Jeff Jones improved on his time last week at Conwy in 27:51 and Sarah Bayliss had a steady run at Wepre in 28:32 and 8th lady. Rob Gotts and Rob Taylor ran Canterbury in 29:12 and 29:13 respectively.
