Three Denbigh Harriers the Village Bakery Half Marathon with Shaun Hughes continuing his fine form to finish in 84th and a PB in this competitive field of nearly 1400 runners. Martin Cortvriend is becoming a bit of a Half Marathon specialist and his fine time took him to first spot in his age category and third place in the GB ranking for the year. Mei Emrys had a fine run to get a personal best at the distance.

The Rhyl 10 mile race was run in the very blustery midst of storm Ewan so the performances of the four Denbigh Harriers present were heartening and special mention must go to Shaun Hughes and Mei Emrys who ran twice at the weekend. Shaun’s 11th place was very impressive in this field of 300+ runners.

The Ruthin 5K had four Denbigh Harriers running in it with the star performance coming from 78 year old Ron Birch winning his age category and out running 48 younger runners.
4th David Baugh 19:40 (1st Vet 50), 7th Paul Goffey 21:16, 38th Emma Jones 30:00, 43rd Ron Birch 32:16 (1st Vet 70)
In the Ruthin 10K there was a problem with the course length meaning that the runners ran somewhere between 200 and 300 metres more than 10k meaning that any times difficult to compare. This said Shaun Hughes again showed great strength to finish in third after running a 10 mile race the day before. There were superb runs from new members Lisa Dafydd and Nicola Field.

In the New York Central Park Half Marathon at the weekend Victoria and Jon Whitehead tackled the undulating course 18 hours after landing. Victoria was 9th in her age group in a field of 1400 runners.
