AWARDED TO THE CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR
i.e the person who has contributed the most to the Club during the year, whether it be through racing or running or through the administration, organisation or the promotion of the Club).
Alison Baugh was a founder member of the Club and our fastest woman runner at the time (43 minute, 10km times). She tragically died, suddenly, of a spontaneous cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 31 in November 1991, two months after the founding of the Club. She left her widower – David Baugh and a seven month old baby – Katy Baugh. The trophy was donated by David’s parents in memory of Alison. The winner of the Alison Baugh Trophy will be voted on from a list of nominations. Nominations for the trophy should be made by a fellow Harrier and highlight how the nominee is the person who has contributed the most to the Club during the year, whether it be through racing or running or through the administration, organisation or the promotion of the Club.

The Dave Say Trophy
AWARDED TO A MEMBER WHO HAS CHALLENGED THEMSELVES AND ACHIEVED THE UNEXPECTED IN THE MOUNTAIN OR HILLS.
Dave Say was a talented runner with an impressive turn of speed developed from being a sprinter in his youth. As someone who loved mountains, he challenged himself to do some of the hardest long distance mountain races in the UK and Europe. Competing in the UTMB on multiple occasions, completing the Lakeland 100 and doing the Three Peaks Yacht Race, to name a few. Dave was always willing to share his wealth of mountain running experience and knowledge by leading groups, running navigation sessions, and taking Harriers out on recces of local routes. In light of his family’s wishes the trophy will be awarded according to criteria that reflect Dave’s interests. To help remember his valued membership of Denbigh Harriers the trophy will be awarded to a club member who has taken themselves out of their comfort zone in challenging themselves by running in the mountains or hills and achieving something they did not think was possible. The winner of the Dave Say Trophy will be voted on by the membership from a list of nominations. Nominations for the trophy should be made by a fellow Harrier and highlight how the nominee has challenged themselves and achieved the unexpected in the mountains or hills.
